Amy is a 50-year-old, white female who has presented with a multitude of symptoms. She reports that she has recently been on medical leave from her job due to the fact that she had back surgery. Prior to her having the back surgery she states that her job might not be there when she gets back because her position is a grant funded position and the grant was expiring. There has been no word on whether the grant would be renewed up until last weekend. Amy offers up information that her boss texted her and asked her to call into a staff meeting to be conferenced in so that the office staff could have a discussion about the grant decision. She states specifically that the air flow through the room is painful to her leg and that if anything at all even brushes up against it that it feels like someone is ripping her leg open. She is very guarded on that side of her body and flinches at any point when she thinks anything might be coming in contact with her leg. All the imaging has come back negative with no explanation for this pain that Amy describes. When Amy is asked about the other medical visits she has had with complaints of being terminally ill, she specifically states that she knows she has cancer because both her mother and father died of cancer. She states that the family history for cancer is very long and extensive. For all these other visits with the doctors that Amy has had over the past couple of years all of the results of any tests from her complaints have also come back negative with no findings to explain the symptoms on presentation to the medical
