Students with doctoral degrees have a larger job prospective scope than those with a master's or bachelor's degree. Those with a doctorate may pursue employment as clinical psychologists, school or child psychologists, neuropsychologists or psychiatrists. A clinical psychologist may work in the social service agencies, clinics, hospitals, rehabilitation facilities in substance abuse or physical therapy centers that aid those emotionally who have chronic illnesses or major injuries such as those to brain or spine. They will mainly identify, diagnose, administer appropriate treatment to their patients, suggest prevention methods and divert and alter negative thoughts. Issues their clients may face include readjustment problems such dealing with divorce, bullying, martial disputes, emotional stress or trauma and mental disorders such as anxiety, depression, schizophrenia, dementia etc. School or child psychologists work with children or adolescents mainly in a school setting. They are trained to cater to their needs and may take up employment in research, counselling or making new educational methods and programs that could improve learning. Psychiatrists are medical doctors that are highly specialized and trained in the understanding of mental and psychological disorders.
