The first step to obtaining any decent paying job is finishing high school to earn a diploma. From freshman to senior year put in as much effort possible to obtain a good GPA. In order to earn a license an internship of two years supervised by a licensed Psychologist is necessary. One of the two has to be post-doctoral. Passage of the Examination for Professional Practice in Psychology is also needed. Each state has its own regulations to get a license. Specifically in Illinois the applicant needs to be 21 years or older, and pay a fee. Both are needed along with the general requirements for all states (“Occupations: Psychologist”).
