Defining Psychobiography: Psychohistory can be divided into two distinct branches, psychobiography which deals with the study of individuals; and group psychohistory which deals with the psychological characteristics of groups such as the Nazi youth cohort, American slaves, or Hiroshima survivors (Lifton 1967; Loewenberg 1971)(As cited by Runyan 1988). Psychohistory can be simply defined as the application of psychology to history, with an associated definition of psychobiography as the use of psychology in biography. Anderson (Cited by Runyan 1982) defined psychohistorian’s as scholars who use psychology as a means to understand historical behavior (Runyan 1982). Character integrity is an individuals beliefs and ideals; the moral, ethical, and motivational principle that provide the individual with moral direction. Relatedness refers to the individual’s interpersonal relationships and the quality of such relationships. The framework is made up of two parts theory of character and theory of role performance (Post 2005) (Renshon 1993). First off political candidates are assumed to have a high level ambitions, due to the investment that is required to achieve office. It is important thought to look at the skills that the individual posses that could either aid or inhibit the candidate’s ambitions; it is possible that an individual’ s skills do not measure up to the level of ambition (Post 2005) (Renshon 1993). The relationship between skills and ambition are linked to the individuals performance (Post 2005) (Renshon 1993). This type of framework is also important because of the relationship of its two major elements, character and performance. An individual’s character is constant and ambition, character integrity, and relatedness are key parts to anyone’s interior psychology regardless of the their political roles. For this framework it is important to identify the key performance characteristics of the role; for example the key performance characteristics for president are judgment and leadership (Post 2005) (Renshon
