The Autism Spectrum was a major change from 4 to 5. The autism categories such as Asperger’s and childhood disintegrative disorders have been removed in 5. There have also been revisions to ADHD diagnosis. “Adults can now be diagnosed with ADHD if they have fewer signs and symptoms than children do” (Wilbert). The DSM-5 has also increased detail to PTSD symptoms. Flashbacks and arousal are some symptoms that have been added into the PTDS category. In DSM-5 Dementia has be reclassified into a different category. It was put into the new category called the Neurocognitive Disorder.
