Psychodynamic Approaches: Nature Vs. Nurture Debate

A key similarity between both approaches is they take the nurture side of the nature vs nurture debate but their reasons for doing so are different. The behaviourist approach believes that all behaviour is learned from the environment around through experiences and all actions can be explained by classical and operant conditioning. For example, some individuals gamble as there is a positive outcome and after observing others in their social environment. However, the psychodynamic approach takes both sides of the argument as it focuses on biological maturation which is the nature side, but believes our actions are changed due to upbringing which is the nurture side of the argument.
