The Psychoanalytic viewpoint of psychoanalysis is very much associated with Sigmund Freud and his followers. Actually, many of Freud insights, such as the ides of the unconscious mind, had been discovered by others(Murray,1988). Stated by www.simplypsychology.org “Psychoanalysis was founded by Sigmund Freud(1856-1939). Freud believed that people that could cured by making conscious their unconscious thoughts and motivations, thus gaining insight. The aim of psychoanalysis therapy is to release repressed emotions and experience, i.e. make the unconscious conscious. Psychoanalysis is commonly used to treat depression and anxiety disorder. It’s is only having a cathartic (i.e. healing) experience can the person be helped “cured”. There are several assumptions according to Sigmund Freud “psychoanalytic psychologists see psychological problems as rooted in the unconscious mind, manifest symptoms are caused by latent(hidden) disturbances, typical causes include unresolved issues during development or repressed trauma, and treatment focuses on bringing the repressed conflict to consciousness, where the client can deal with it Sigmund Freud (1856-1939).” Freud works consist of Free Association this is when the patient lies on couch and is encouraged to say anything that comes to mind, no matter it’s embarrassing.
