I initially signed up for PSYCH 1101 to fulfill a distribution requirement, but it turned out to be so much more for me. Having never been exposed to psychology in high school, I was curious to see what psychology was and whether I would like or not. Turns out, I liked it a lot. Taking PSYCH 1101 seemed to open my eyes to a whole new branch of science. The reason psychology interests me is because I can directly apply many of the studies not only to my own behaviors and thought processes, but also to the actions of those around me. In high school, if someone had told me I would actually want to retake a class, I wouldnt have believed them. However, one of the reasons the PSYCH 1101 tutor position jumped out at me was because, if given the position, I would be able to attend the lectures again. …show more content…
Professor Pizarro was very engaging, funny, and his passion for his subject came through in his teaching. I even read the course textbook (one of the few textbooks I thoroughly enjoyed reading). This course really interested me in psychology and has driven me to sign up for more psychology courses and look into psychology research oppportunities. In high school, I was a tutor and a dance teacher. I really enjoyed both of these positions because I was able to help people understand and apprectiate subjects (and art forms) I was passionate about and interested in. I think this position will be perfect for me because not only will I be able to "take" this course again, but I will also be able to help my fellow peers succeed in a subject I

Psychology 201 has been a very intriguing course for me so far. I really enjoyed learning about how the brain works and how big of a role it plays in our lives. Some specific areas of psychology I enjoyed studying were Operant Conditioning, the theories of motivation, and Jean-Dominique Bauby. Operant Conditioning was a familiar concept, even though I was not familiar with the specific terminology. I think reinforcement and punishment are very interesting topics that apply to everyone's lives.…

It is painfully obvious that FlexMed has had an impact on my educational plan in college. At first, I had intentions of studying History and Computer Science. Now, I am a declared Spanish major and am declaring a major in Biopsychology, Cognition, and Neuroscience. The only reason this has been possible is the flexibility afforded by FlexMed. It began when my five best friends from my dorm hall decided that they wanted to live together off-campus sophomore year.…

Final Paper Being enrolled in Gateway to Psychology was probably one of the best decisions I have ever made. I have gotten to learn about so many different things and have been given tons of resources to help me here at the University of Oklahoma. In this course I was given to opportunity to have a meeting with our TA Shawntal. Shawntal helped our class if we ever needed help or just wanted to talk. During our meeting we talked about the careers we wanted to pursue and how we can achieve our long-term goals.…

Before this course, I did not know grammar well, and what I did know I did not fully understand. Yet, due to taking the course, I learned more about the structure of the English language, and can use grammar better than I did before. For instance, the first three major assignments were filled with missing comas, verb-tense misuses, and run-on sentences. Now, I may still make mistakes, but I know why I have made them. In other English courses, I had grammar homework and reading assignments that, often, seemed to be busy work, but with this course, I did not think that was the case.…

During senior year, I have thoroughly enjoyed taking Psychology AP and delving into the many intriguing topics that make up the course. The subject matter of this course is very interesting to me compared to some of my other classes like biology. I also believe that your teaching style has helped me learn the content well due to the topical outlines and entertaining lectures. Compared to other courses in which the teacher merely lectures in an organized fashion, this class has been very user-friendly in terms of understanding content. Overall, the three most intriguing topics that we have covered throughout the school year have been improving the ability to learn, sleep, and defense mechanisms.…

It feels like so long ago when I first began this English course. I can remember being so excited about the class topic, racism and social justice, which I felt that I had a lot of passion for. Little did I know that I would have to gather up even more enthusiasm and passion to be able to continue writing papers about the same topic all semester long. This course has tested my endurance, and at many times my patience, and for that I am thankful because I know in the end, it has made me a better writer. Despite various minor challenges this semester I believe that I have put in the hard work that it takes and I have achieved the course goals and will complete this class feeling fulfilled and accomplished.…

One the most significant things that I learned in introduction to human services this semester was that everyone experiences situations differently, what might be something unimportant and minor to you might be a trigger for someone else. You should always be mindful of others, I think us as human beings we tend to be a bit selfish and like to think that the world revolves around us. Which, is ridiculous because the world has 7.3 billion people and counting, and what makes me more significant than all those other people? Sometimes I’ll go out to the store in a hurry and I’ll get a line with a cashier that is being extremely slow, and I get upset and start thinking of some nasty things about the cashier, without ever taking into consideration what that person might be going through.…
