Some specific areas of psychology I enjoyed studying were Operant Conditioning, the theories of motivation, and Jean-Dominique Bauby. Operant Conditioning was a familiar concept, even though I was not familiar with the specific terminology. I think reinforcement and punishment are very interesting topics that apply to everyone's lives.…

The main concepts of the psychodynamic perspective is the idea of the unconscious and the level in which the unconscious influences our behaviour. It takes a very deterministic approach in that all behaviour is predetermined and out of our control. Freud (1915) first introduced the idea of the conscious, and split it into the conscious and unconscious. He compared the concept to an iceberg, the unconscious being a complex; much grander selection of thoughts and feelings. An individual, according to Freud (1915), would be unaware of these emotions, so therefore any behaviour motivated by the unconscious would be out of his or her control.…

The psychodynamics theory of personality comes from Sigmund Freud’s findings. His findings made him think that people had three levels of awareness; the conscious, preconscious, and unconscious. The most important out of these three would be the unconscious because it contains thought, feelings, memories, and desires that influence over the day- to day aspects of people's lives without being aware of it.
