Psy/311 Week 1 Reflection

For this week’s reflection I chose to discuss number one. After reviewing the question, I realized that there have been times where I did not feel “connected” during a conversation. It may have been because I was bored with the topic and tended to start thinking of something else while the conversation was still going, not even knowing I was doing so. Or other times I may have not known the full concept or understood completely what was being discussed in the conversation. I think everyone has the tendency to feel disconnected from a conversation, whether they did not comprehend what was being said or if they did not have any interest in the topic. If I was the person that was directing the conversation and noticed that that particular person

    1) What are some of the things ( behaviours) that you did or didn't do this week that kept you in your integrity? On my first week of school, I was speaking to a classmate and discovered she lived in the relative area to me, yet her commute was far longer. After some consideration, I decided to offer her a carpool agreement to the subway in the mornings, and to her house in the evenings. Rather than Lhara take a total of four busses every morning, I have added 15 minutes to my commute but taken an hour off hers.…

During the course of my day, then I would realize. For example, the I-It communication level is something that I experience everyday and I’m sure we all do. When I pick up my coffee, when I buy clothes, and when I walk into a store etc.…

Short Term 12 was a very interesting movie. It had hints of being realistic, but with aspects where you knew it was a movie. It’s about a group of workers who work in a foster care residential facility setting. The main character, Grace, deals with her own personal struggles while she supervises the children at the facility. I have a short bit of experience at a facility like Short Term 12 in some aspects; I can see where parts of the movie are realistic and where are some are an exaggeration because it is a movie.…

For the first major assignment for Professor Julia Green’s Communication 211 for Spring 2016, I partnered with classmates Lori Rainey and Sarah Beattie to “analyze how the different forms of communication yield different results when it comes to communicating” (Green, Week 4 - Major Assignment 1: Blog). By going through the exercises, I have reconfirmed that the form of online communication best suited to me is email versus social media such as Facebook, or texting. Unlike some people, I find texts are more difficult to respond to for many reasons, including the limitation of the touch-screen keypads, as well as the synchronicity of the communication, depending on the user’s attention to their phone. As an example, I routinely forget my cell…

In every group, structured or not, the group process has many effects on the overall group. This paper will look at the group processes of our cohort, the interactions between subgroups, and the way that it has affected the overall distance learning cohort. It will look at themes which have played out during our most recent trip to campus, namely subgroups formed, as well as the difference in anxiety levels between the foundation and concentration groups and the behaviors that were demonstrated. Next it will identify and discuss instances of here-and-now moments within the groups and consider the process commentary that we saw emerge and reflect on possible meanings for it. Finally it will depict how the groups illustrated the concepts of…
