Relevant History; Aileen had been admitted to therapy a year ago and two years before that because she attempted suicide. After her last hospitalization Aileen was doing well for ten months but she stopped taking her medication after a couple of weeks. Soon after that she began to distance herself from her friends. Presenting Problem; seems to be depression because she had lost ten pounds and had been unable to sleep and claimed the reason she stopped playing tennis was because she didn’t enjoy it anymore. Diagnosis; is major depression episodes because she is showing all the disturbed physical functions such as significant changes in appetite and weight (lost ten pounds), unable to eat, and notable loss of energy (stopped playing tennis). …show more content…
I recommend she takes medication again because she was doing well for ten months when she was on meds. Some psychological treatments I recommend for her depression are cognitive-behavioral therapy which will help her identify and alter negative thinking related to depression as well as replacing them with more adaptive behaviors and coping styles. Interpersonal psychotherapy would help her solve any interpersonal problems and stressors that could lead to depression. Prognosis; none of these treatments could affect Aileen’s life. In fact, the treatments should help and prevent any suicidal attempts and
