30. What goods and services would you include in an estimate of the basic necessities for a family of four?

The necessities for a family of four are food, housing, clothing, healthcare, and transportation. How much a family spends on goods and services depends mostly on income. Normally, a greater percentage of income of a household is spent on housing and food. A family of four has to earn an income of at least $25,000, which is the poverty line, in order to meet certain basic needs. In the Washington DC area, for example, the cost of living is very high, so $25,000 would not be enough to have a nutritional food or own a house.
Not for all families of four, the basic needs are the same; for example, a rich family earning an income of $300,000

Although the case study talks about the father being abusive I would want to know about the mother and their relationship. Then I would ask a follow up question and ask Mariah if she tried looking for her parents and what would she get out of it if she tried to look for her parents. Another question I would have for Mariah is if she could tell me more about the babies’ father and what type of relationship did they have.…

This means that heads of households who are stuck working in full time minimum wage do not qualify for assistance since, on average, their annual income totals around $15,080 per household (Groves, Lee, & Strandberg, 2015). Several attempts at health care reforms have taken place in order to fix /close the gap such as “Obamacare,” or “The Affordable Care Act.” Although this reform brought much controversy, it was able to expand care to families that were…

Clearly poverty affects everyone, but poverty hits certain people harder than others. Racial discrimination plays a huge role in the “color of poverty”.…
