The writer also questions the reader as a way of setting them up to learn to true full nature of the Lord. This style of writing, creates a dramatic monologue and creates an anticipation in the mind of the reader to continue to learn about the power of God.…

“Oh, the joys of those who do not follow evil men’s advice, who do not hang around with sinners, scoffing at the things of God.” (Psalm 1:1, Living Bible). Psalm 1:1 uses the synonymous parallelism. The synonymous parallelism is identified in this verse because both lines articulate the same idea (Tullock & McEntire, 2012). The verse describes the actions of what is godly via not listening to or being associated with evil.…

He uses the Adam and Eve story in this poem because when Eve turned from God and ate from the forbidden tree, she then went to Adam and he also ate from the tree too. This meant that for them they had turned from God, and could not take back what was already done. Nothing they did could be “tamed.” The message in this poem means that you cannot change what has already been said or done, you just have to move on in the…

The poem "Annabel Lee", by Edgar Allan Poe, shows the speaker's way of coping with the death of his beloved, which is displayed as obsession towards her and his judgment of the holy as guilty. The speaker justifies his obsessed love to Annabel Lee as stronger than any extraordinary force, and presents the holy as disgraced and malice for trying to separate them. First, the repetition of words, phrases and sounds emphasizes the speaker's obsession towards Annabel Lee. Her name is mentioned seven times, and the first time she is mentioned her whole name is capitalized as if she is the only one existing.…

Overall in the context of ‘us’ throughout the passage can sometimes be mistranslated, but nevertheless points towards the suffering servant who we see as Jesus. This is evidently seen in the early Rabbis who saw this passage as referring to an individual and that individual being the Messiah. This concept is easily grasped throughout todays culture due to the new covenant and the sacrifice of Jesus for our sins. As well as this the verses depicted in this passage strongly connect with the suffering in which Jesus endured. The ideas throughout these verses such as pierced, crushed and wounded all match and describe the suffering Jesus endured.…

In my opinion “An Address to Miss Wheatley” talks about no matter the struggles we go through in life, God will always be there to guide us. God was with Miss Wheatley along with the other settlers and immigrants as they traveled. God was with all that lived all that died during the tragedy across the sea. I think the poem is saying that everyone sins and unknowingly goes against the Lord, but we must repent and ask Jesus for forgiveness. Hammon is telling each reader that God loves each and everyone of us and he forgives us even when we think we have stooped to our lowest.…

The Tone of Religious Devotion in Hopkins’ PIED BEAUTY Being a sensuous poet and a Roman Catholic priest at the same time, Hopkins’ poetry bears the stamp of his sensibility( as a poet) and his devotional spirit ( as a priest). These two often trigger a conflict and generate a lot of tension in his poems. Nevertheless ,this contradiction seems to be resolved and both, the poet and the priest , seem to be in harmony in ”Pied Beauty”. The poem opens with the poet’s reverence for God- the Creator .…
