The Sermon on the Mount is a interesting piece of writing that gives out a lot of crazy ideas on how people should live. I can not see anyone who is human living by these laws at all. Following the Exodus from Egypt the Israelites wandered the Sinai wilderness for forty years. Not sure of their future they began worshipping the Canaanite Pantheon instead of God and only upon threats from Moses did they stop their worshipping the pagan deities. Substantial amount of evidence from various archaeological excavations throughout the Levant confirm that the Israelites and the Canaanites believed in the same Father-God named El. The Kingdom of Israel, ruled by Jeroboam I, began a religiously divided nation with idols of El's such as the golden calf in the temples located in Dan and at Bethel and said "Here are your gods O Israel.…

Every Psalm that I have read thus far has shown me more and more about God’s grace and how we must give him praise every single day. Not just because of the sole fact that he is our Creator but, because every day each and every one of us go through so many things and he is always there for us no matter what. He is the only one who chooses between giving us life and death, and he is the only one who continuously shows us grace above all else. In Psalm 23:1 “The Lord is my shepherd; I have all that I need” (New Living Translation).…

However, there is general consensus in conservatives circles that King David of Israel was the major source and collector of the Psalms. I also learned that Moses gave Israel the five books of the Torah, and correspondingly David gave the five books of the Psalms. Sermon On The Mount

This passage is a part of so called ‘Sermon on the Mount’ scene in which Jesus is educating his disciples and giving a new insight into issues, some of which were also covered in the Old Testament. The text stands out because it describes Jesus’ approach to reapplying the ‘Law’ in a new way and yet still shows that ‘his coming and work fulfilled the old prophecy’. The theme of Matthew’s gospel is based around the idea of Christocentricity through which the author portrays the correlation between the Old and New Testament. The two verses (17 and 18) conflict each other which may signify that Matthew’s Gospel has developed from Judaism and since the author highlights the validity of the ‘Law’, it might be assumed that the gospel was…

Samir, I believe you are on the right path with the understanding that material wealth and prestige are not eternal. Furthermore, as a manager, the work which is produced by those around us is often as a result of cultivating the flock. For instance, in the case of the Psalm 23 flock, the shepherd leads the flock to green pastures and still water; a place where the flock is safe and can flourish. Therefore, the flock may abundantly produce, and therefore provide to the shepherd with their milk and wool. In the work place, a manager must be mindful to the condition of their flock, because at the end of the day, the flock’s product and attitude often reflects that of their leader.…

Embracing my brokenness became a joy for me once I understood that nothing I could ever do would accomplish what needed done in my heart and life. Surrendering my soul, my will and my fleshly desires, I was broken and my flesh crucified; now I am resurrected in Christ.…

In today’s world, many people try to define success in terms of having power over others, winning over others, or the ability to dominate others.
