Week One Devotional
Psa 111:2 (KJV), "The works of the LORD, are great, sought out of all them that have pleasure therein."
Our devotional begins with whom all things begin and that is God. Not only is God creator of all things, visible and invisible, but He is the one who holds everything together. He holds all things together as He has placed them, and they function as He has purposed them to do so. The moon, the sun, the stars, the universe, the entire solar system including the earth are all held together and consist by Him and for Him (Col 1:17 KJV).
He holds the moon in place so as not to collide with the earth. He holds the sun in place so as not to burn up the earth. He holds the earth in place on its axis as it rotates in orbit. …show more content…
It is by His Word and His power that all things exist. God said it, and I believe it. In the beginning, God said it, and it was the beginning of all things; time, space, and man. And when He had finished, He “saw that it was good” (Gen, 1:10 KJV).
God is good and greatly to be praised. There is none like Him. Without Him, there would be no science or scientist. Without Him, there would be nothing, just as it was before creation. The Bible tells us “the earth was without form, and void, darkness was upon the face of the deep” (Gen 1:2 KJV). Without Him, man would not have the wisdom to explore, create, maintain, and answer some of the mysteries of creation. There is much that remains unknown, but God has purposed in some people to go above and beyond in scientific research to answer questions that have perplexed man for centuries.
Science has come a long way and made great strides in their discoveries of the how, the when, and the why of creation. According to Tarbuck, Lutgens, and Tasa (2012) “Earth Science is the name for all the sciences that collectively seek to understand Earth and its neighbors in space. It includes geology, oceanography, meteorology, and astronomy. In this book, Units 1-4 focus on the science of geology . . . The study of physical geology logically precedes the study of Earth history because we must fir understand how Earth works before we attempt to unravel
