The doctrine of the Roman Catholic Church believes in buying absolution of sins with currency. Out of this belief arose the indulgence trade. The belief is with a man’s good works he could pay for his sins, thereby earning righteousness from God. The catholic Church believes salvation is dependent on a man’s ability. When a man exercises his “free will”, and choose God, then God would give him grace. With “free will”, grace, and good works, God would give him righteousness so he can go to heaven.
