Prostitution Should Be Made Legal in the United States of America The argument I would like to present is: Prostitution should be legal in the United States of America. Prostitution is the practice or occupation of engaging in sexual activity with someone for payment. Though it is illegal, this scandalous occupation is also a growing problem in many countries around the world. There is a lot of current debate going on to determine whether this profession that has been frowned upon for centuries should be legalized or not. If prostitutes can report to a police officer that they feel threatened by a client or even a pimp, they can be helped. Prostitution will be available for people who would like to satisfy their sexual urges so that they will not feel as compelled to commit rape. Also, legalizing prostitution will save the country a lot of money that they spend on arresting these men and women. This cost adds up to more than $120 million a year. The government would keep this money and also receive taxes since prostitution will be considered a legitimate occupation. This should interest the government since they are always feigning for the people’s money. The legalization of prostitution should also interest the prostitutes, their families and mostly, their clients. They would benefit the most from this act. Some people in the community may not agree with my desire to make prostitution legal because of religious beliefs, cultural beliefs, marital beliefs, healthcare dangers and I believe, personal insecurities. When I say personal insecurities, I mean women who are afraid their partner will cheat on them with a prostitute, which will make them insecure. Most religions aren’t tolerant of having multiple sexual partners and this trait is part of a prostitute’s job
