The first line of the soliloquy is a very metrical phrase and it has the female ending. The word revels means to take intense pleasure or satisfaction. In this soliloquy the word revel was used in regard to when they banished the masque. A masque is a short allegorical dramatic entertainment of the 16th and 17th centuries performed by masked actors. Prospero is well aware that his life is coming to an end and that is why the end of the masque occurred because it was fun and joyful in peoples lives, and they do not live on forever. After analyzing the first sentence it is clear the Shakespeare is using it to announce the end of his career. The second line of this soliloquy is more along the lines of Prospero the character.
