Prospero is a man with many faces, many of which clearly reflects on how successful he is at character he portrays. Prospero’s first priority is always his daughter; like any father, he cares for and protects her. Prospero would cause the Tempest in order to promise his daughter a great future, Prospero clearly loves his daughter more than anything. Prospero is also a god of manipulation, and a master of delusion; with his careful plans and operations, he is able to control most characters in the story. With his sorcery and knowledge, he ultimately narrates a story where the ending is a honorable one.
Miranda, Prospero’s daughter, was the one thing that Prospero cared about the most. Living with her daughter on the island for twelve years,

One of the techniques of control Prospero demonstrated was through using fake divine beings created by his sorcery to manipulate what others are thinking. He has also lied to others, not for his own purposes, but for the well being of those he cares about. But there are ends to his mercy, where he has also established complete dominance over a person in order to make use of that person. Prospero is a master of sorcery, and he could use the authority of divine and supernatural forces to manipulate the minds of his foes; which is exactly what he did in Act 3 Scene 3. “Incensed the seas and shores, yea, all the creatures against your peace. Thee of thy son, Alonso, they have bereft; and do pronounce by me Ling’ring perdition, worse than any death can be at once, shall step by step attend you and your ways, whose wraths to guard you from- Which here, in this most desolate isle, else falls upon your heads-is nothing but heart’s sorrow and a clear life ensuing” Prospero gathered the Three Men of Sin, and sent Ariel as a harpy to declare their punishments. Ariel reminded the three men of their sins, what they had done to Prospero and Miranda years ago, and stated that the ocean is punishing them by stranding them on this unmanned island; but also suggested that if they redeem themselves, they may find a decent future. He also lied to his daughter to preserve her naive

Caliban urges his comrades to “ first possess his books; for without he’s but a sot, as I am, nor hath not one spirit to command” (The Tempest, p.53).
