Prospect Impressions: Sundqvist's first, plus goals scored between-the-legs and tic-

tac-toe style, McCauley's dramatic goal call

He's certainly not complaining, but Oskar Sundqvist scored the first goal of his NHL

career and an unlikely source assisted on it. Also featured are two goals scored

tie-tac-toe style, and a pair of between-the-legs efforts that are just too good to

be true. Plenty more assists, goals, and Wes McCauley's dramatic goal decision

encapsulate a fantastic edition of Prospect Impressions.

Well, it's not exactly how you draw it up, but Oskar Sundqvist scored his first NHL

goal this weekend agaisnt the New York Islanders. While shorthanded, Pittsburgh

The Coyotes put together one of

As nice as the Coyotes goal is, the Albany Devils showed off some creativity and pure

skill in three-on-three overtime. Just 22 seconds into overtime against the

Binghampton Senators, Marc-Andre Gragnani made a quick pass to Paul Thompson who saw

former Senator Jim O'Brien back door and shuffled the puck in his direction. In the

blink of an eye, two passes and a tap-in happened as the Devils picked up their 41st

win of the season, a new franchise record.

Mississauga Steelheads forward Alex Nylander's draft stock continues to rise as the

team hangs in tough in a difficult opening-round matchup in the OHL playoffs. The

Barrie Colts torched competition this season and the pesky Steelheas have taken them

to the brink with a pivotal game seven on the horizon. Nylander has played a huge

part in that with his patient, cerebral approach to the game. This goal, his fifth of

the series, exemplifies the type of game he brings to the table.

The Texas Rangers (2-1) fall to the Toronto Blue Jays (1-2) by a final score of 5-1 in Arlington Texas. The Rangers bats were silenced for most of the night, and the Blue Jays looked like a team that didn’t want their season to end tonight. Martin Perez (0-1 7.20 ERA) took the loss for the Rangers, while Marco Estrada (1-0 1.42 ERA) got the win for the visiting Blue Jays. Martin Perez got off to a magnificent start for the Rangers, retiring the first six hitters that he faced. An offensive rebound and put-back attempt by ETBU’s Junior Mitchell led the visiting Tigers to a 56-54 win over LeTourneau University on Saturday in Longview. The YellowJackets (9-13, 6-7 ASC) had forced a desperation 3-point attempt by Dylan Augustine with the shot clock winding down before an alert Mitchell came in from the perimeter for the game-winning, put-back attempt with seven seconds to go. LeTourneau called a timeout and looked to set up a play to send the contest overtime. The first scene of the hockey game appears “discorded and inconsequent” (13) as players performed complex maneuvers for a person “who had never seen it before” (12). Essentially, the situation seemed messy to the first-time spectator because he never witnessed anything similar to hockey prior to the game; confusion consumed him. However, with a stroke of insight, “he learned to find the puck” (25) indicating the beginning of his comprehension. Once he followed the puck, he noticed the names of players and drew comparisons to their play styles. The…

They were the heavy favorite to win with the reason being because they used this tournament as a tryout team for their winter team. That meant they brought a hefty amount of very skilled players to this tournament all giving one-hundred percent effort skating for a spot on their winter team in Omaha. Not to mention, their team is mostly the same players every year, so in reality seventy-five percent of these kids played together all year long.…
