Millions of animals in shelters are put down every year and the blame is only to put on us, the humans. Animals end up in kill shelters because of us. A lot of the time theses animals are euthanized because of what the shelters do to them. They are also killed for the most unbelievable reasons, and sometimes the animals suffer when being euthanized. To most animals, shelters are paradise because they are not lonely and abandoned in the world, which is the upside of this situation. Though there are beneficial reasons to euthanize animals, it should not be done any longer.
One reason why animals should no longer be euthanized is that they are killed for unbelievable reasons. Pet overpopulation.” They do prevent this, but in a way that's unnecessary. They are killing the animals, instead of expanding the shelter which is unreasonable. In the article What Happens to Dogs In Shelters by Corinne Reilly, it states “Some shelters euthanize pets where the other animals could watch, which obviously affects them. This can lead to aggression, depression, etc.” When dogs have social problems it becomes harder for them to adopt out which leads to euthanization. Another example is from Three Big Reasons Why Animal Shelters Euthanize Pets by Allison Gray, which states “Animal shelters are breeding grounds for diseases.” the shelters aren't very clean which makes it way easier to get the animals sick, which leads to
