A smartphone can be viewed as a mini computer. It has all the functions that a computer has. Smartphones have GPS, social media apps, calendar, email apps, weather apps and many more features. At the same time, smartphones are affecting student’s writing and grammar skills. While texting, teens avoid grammar and use abbreviations. According to CJ Cotter, the author of “How Texting Can Affect Grammar”, “Texting in its nature, shuns grammar…people…lose punctuation, sentence structure, and capitalization.” Teens nowadays are constantly texting. As a result of the prolonged exposure to texting, teens have trouble writing essays and papers.
