The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIS or ISIL) is a terrorist group that used to be know as Al Qaeda in Iraq. Al Qaeda broke ties with ISIS in February after Al Qaeda's leader became frustrated with ISIS's refusal to kill less Syrian civilians. ISIS has carried out numerous attacks around the world. There are said to be 15,000 or more ISIS soldiers with up to three times that number available to fight if necessary. Their brutal attacks have raised alarms that they can expand their operations beyond Syria and Iraq. Although it is possible for them to attack America, former CIA deputy director Mike Morrell said in response to the beheading of an American journalist, "We should mark this date down because this is ISIS' first terrorist
