This brings up the point of women being strong. I want to stand as an example for women standing firm in their beliefs and being determined to get the equality that they deserve. If Congress refuses to listen and grant what women ask, there is but one course

For example, many women today face unequal pay in the workforce compared to men. Even though in 1963 the Equal Pay Act legislation was passed, it has been decades and the policies are old and outdated.…

Women also have the right to speak for her own body and protest against the defunding of Planned Parenthood, the 1st Amendment. These are basic rights that are being taken away just because of one person’s apparent superior experience. This is not acceptable for men to be making these decisions for women across the nation. The First Lady of the United States is not elected, her position is not defined, and her role is informal. She is not paid for her work, and there is no official documentation of responsibilities for her to follow, yet her position is both accepted and expected throughout the United States. Her actions represent and reflect the current president’s administration, and she serves a political and social platform in the country. Each woman creates her own version of what the position of First Lady entitles, since there are no constitutional guidelines, and each First Lady’s role ends up being as diverse as the women themselves. The founding fathers imagined the social role of the First Lady to represent the same core values that the nation stood upon, such as “elegance without excess, power without pomp, and dignity without disdain for the common man.…

In their study, they found that in both 2001 and 2011, there was a “profound gender gap in interest in seeking elective office. Women of all professions, political parties, ages, and income levels are less likely than their male counterparts to express interest in running for office” (16). Why is that when women perform the same task as men, they do work just as fine as men? Figure 5a lists some obstacles women face, such as being held to a higher standard than men or that women are not tough enough to handle politics (“Obstacles to Female Leadership”). In order to close the gender gap and increase women’s representation in politics society must continue to raise awareness about the…

Gender plays a huge role in politics and whenever a woman is running for a position that is normally held by a man, she is almost always seen to her fellow politicians as incapable of successfully performing the daily functions of the position and also seen as weak and inferior to the males.…
