Many think that removing meat and other animal products from someone’s diet would not end up helping the planet and the animals that are being unnecessarily harmed. Growing vegetables and fruits would require land that would be taken away from wildlife, thus causing those animals to not have a home and harming them still. Also, those fields of crops would need fertilizer and pesticides in able for it to produce enough edible food for everyone. Then whenever it would rain, those fertilizers and pesticides would be added to the runoff and potentially harm the surrounding ecosystem, not to mention just the basic erosion. After many years of planting in the same soil, the soil would eventually become depleted of nutrients and become unusable.1 So having everyone become a vegan for saving the planet and animals would actually harm the ecosystem rather than contributing to its well …show more content…
But, before there could be a complete switch, people first need to be educated on veganism. They should know how to properly prepare meals and see what nutrients they need to include so they will not be deficient in any vitamins or minerals. Also, farmers should start changing over from raising animals on their farms, to growing vegetables and fruits. By doing this, there would be a smoother transition changing to a vegan diet. However, none of this can be done unless people are willing to try to do better for themselves and their environment, but hopefully more attention to veganism will make them interested enough to
