Transportation is a problem in Crest Hill, Illinois. In Crest Hill, there are many variables that makes it hard for the elderly population to get around. There is no public bus system that come to Crest Hill, the nearest bus is in Joliet and it is a twenty-minute walk. There is no side walk to get to the bus stop making hard for the elderly or the disable to get there. Although there isn’t a lot of public transportation options in Crest Hill, there still is private transportation options. However, most seniors are on a fix income and most likely cannot afford to pay private transportation services. Something must be done about the transportation problem in Crest Hill because without a solution it can lead to isolation, poor health and decrease …show more content…
The public transportation consists of pace bus service with a fixed bus routes. The bus route can drive to different cities like Bolingbrook and Romeoville. Dial a Ride is a form of public transportation that is only available for elderly and disable people and offers a discount fare for them as well (Public Transportation). There services are Mondays through Friday from seven in the morning to five in the evening. Traveling from different counties like Dupage, county (Public Transportation). For private transportation, there are many cab companies in Will county, but the most popular are Lyft and Uber. The town mostly depend on Joliet for the transportation, since Joliet wraps around the town of Crest Hill. Although there are many private transportation companies that can come to Crest Hill, many of them are expensive and the low income elderly population cannot afford them. This is why there need to be some advocacy for the Pace bus route to come to Crest Hill. It is cheap and will not require the seniors to walk a long distance to get there and back.
