Pros And Cons Of The USA Patriot Act

The USA Patriot Act is a ten letter acronym for Uniting and Strengthening America by Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism. This act was passed in the wake of the September 11th terrorist attacks on the world trade center. It was an act of congress that passed six weeks after on October 26, 2001. This was signed into law by George W. Bush. The Patriot Act was passed almost unanimously by the senate with a vote of 98 to 1 and it passed in the house 357 to 66. The purpose of this act was to deter and punish any acts of terrorism around the world and to improve law enforcement investigatory tools. The Patriot Act is a very controversial topic in today’s world. Supporters say it has been very helpful in a lot of investigations and arrests of terrorists. They also say that the provisions made for this act helped enhance information sharing with the FBI and the intelligence community.
