The healthcare system will provide some people with insurance through medicate even if they are low income. The system provides improved health to a lot of people. It helps decrease bankruptcy to medical cost for families. But also helps the hospitals stay open and not having to worry about everyone who may not be able to afford there cost (Anonymous 1). With the many positive things about our healthcare system there are far more negative things that go along with it. The U.S. spends the most on healthcare and drugs than anyone else (Brodwin 5). Almost a fifth of Americas gross domestic product (GPD) goes toward healthcare spending. (6) But the thing is we still have a very high death rate in areas that are treatable and can be cured or fixed. The biggest “con” facing the U.S. healthcare system is that it fails to protect everyone. Over 45,000 people die each year just because they don’t have health insurance and can not afford it (NESRI 2) As stated earlier there are around fifty million people uninsured. Over 700,000 families will go bankrupt each year just trying to pay for there healthcare (DHS 2). The Affordable Care Act or also known as Obamacare is an act that is taking huge steps to help those people who can’t afford insurance.
