First of all, the Constitution is too long and needs to be organized. It is one of the constitutions that have gone through many amendments making it more complex and the longest of all the constitutions of the United States (Hooks: 2011). First of all, the issue caused by the constitution is of underpaid legislature causing officials to get easily influenced by special interest groups. The low pay of the officials is the reason behind high percentage of lawyers and businessmen in legislature in Texas. Secondly, the limitation of the legislature session for only every two years due which it becomes difficult to govern a large urban state. The power is divided among statewide elected officials of other states (Braden: 1977). These and other factors stress the need to rewrite the Texas Constitution. This leads the executive branch members to enviously protect their jurisdiction and power and undermines the group effort to govern Texas.
PART II:
I am in favor of rewriting the Texas Constitution for the above mentioned reasons. It should be written in a simpler and concise manner so that it could be easily read and understood.
Those who support the idea of rewriting the constitution claim that the Texas Constitution does not go for the state. They consider it as an artifact of the era of the Civil War when the only solution to make Texans to trust their state leader was a constitution that can take power from the elected and transfer it to the electorate (Braden: 1977).
