Pros And Cons Of The Spread Of Technology In Nursing

Technology plays a very vital role in health care system and this system is persistently going through modifications in which application of technology covers important element. Technology, as defined by Merriam-Webster (2012) is the “practical application of knowledge especially in a particular area;” Nursing is one of the honorable professions but is also one of the most tough and challenging profession both physically and mentally. Spread of technology in nursing is really helping to make life at ease for nurses. It is fact that high technology is not replaced by human touch so nursing is the profession which is the mixture of both. Nursing is about merging the talent of caring with the recent high technology. According to (Berendo, 1998) when nursing care merged with technology it give better understanding of the patient .Technology also helps to get better the productivity, the safety and reduce the communication gap among the patient, and quality of care.
Firstly, Technology can help nurses make sensible decisions and make it easily available at the point of care. As a nursing manager we should promote in health care setting to have a successful use of technologies in daily health care practices to make their work effective which will help to our objective and improve motivation and job satisfaction, and also decrease the gap between the health care professional and patients, as (Bernardo, 1998) said that fast changing setting, nurses must hold close and adjust to technology if it intends to be an important and dominant in the healthcare
