The number of total revenue is growing closer to one hundred million dollars every day. For gun supporters this is a great thing. It allows the NRA to politically lobby their love of guns to important politicians. For people against owning guns this is not a good thing. The NRA is an involved organization. Proof of this can be found in the writings of the “Father of the Constitution,” James Madison. In Federalist Paper #46 Madison talks about the militia which would outnumber the standing army by at least 10 to one being able to oppose the army in defense of their liberty and freedoms. Coincidently, this clearly makes the case for the militia bearing equal armament to the nations standing army, and who is the militia? Simply put, according to United States Code, Title 10 section 311, the militia is comprised of all United States citizens over the age of 17 and who are able to bear arms. Now, on to the National Rifle Association; yes, they are a political lobbying group, however first and foremost, the NRA is a training organization, teaching firearms safety and competent marksmanship ever since its founding in 1871 by two retired Union Army Officers.…

They show no lack of support, even with the amount of backlash that the association faces. Time after time they have had the finger pointed at them over gun related crimes and incidents in the United States, yet it is still prospering and is not having a difficult time against groups that want gun control and are opposed to the association. The N.R.A has different ways of appealing to individuals, but it is hard to say if that appeal is what the N.R.A stands for, of it is just what they have to offer and benefit someone. The organizations popularity comes from both passionate members of the groups beliefs and those that are mere followers and do not pay attention to the politics…

Now within these groups there are views expressed on the far left and the far right, some for limited gun control while other feel any ban is unconstitutional. To start, I’m Pro 2nd amendment, to a point, because I’m also pro gun control to a point. It’s my thinking that most people want sane, law abiding citizens to be able to obtain firearms to protect themselves from criminals, while also wanting society to be able to protect themselves from crazy, insane or violent criminals by enacting stricter gun control laws so that mentally deranged individuals are unable to obtain easy to purchase firearms.…

This was seen in the frontline video as citizens repeatedly tried to get a stronger grip on gun control against the NRA, but failed due to the NRA blocking new gun control legislations despite the majority wanting stricter gun laws. The NRA is more powerful because their supporters are more organized and passionate than the people who wanted stricter gun control. I quote our president Obama as he said, “this is not going to change unless the people who want to prevent these kinds of mass shootings from taking place feel at least as passionate and are at least as mobilized and well-funded and organized as the NRA and the gun manufacturers are” (Gunned Down: ‘The power of the NRA). This correlates that interest groups are superior in financial resources and it is crucial for them to out strategize their…

Some groups, such as the Brady Campaign, would like to see gun control laws take away some rights and restrict others, whereas the National Rifle Association would like to protect gun rights and educate society on the use of firearms. Both sides want to stop the problem of gun violence, but protecting gun rights is the only way to truly insure public safety.
