Diets have been around for a long time, although some were never as effective as others. The US has gradually increased their obesity rate, so many are trying to find the best options for themselves. For some, weight loss is the ultimate goal. And for others, the most important factor is their universal health. Of course, the easiest way in general to have the best health and to lose weight is putting nutritious foods into your body and making sure to exercise. Even though many diets don’t have the exercise faction. Although the opinions of some may differ, the Atkins Diet is clinically proven to be one of the best choices because there are many healthy attributes and it’s always been known to work effectively. Back in the early 70’s, a doctor named Robert C. Atkins wrote a book about his diet. He believed that the less carbs you put into your body, the more weight you lose. His diet is set up in four phases: Induction, Balancing, Fine-Tuning, and Maintenance (Healthy Weigh Forum). As you continue …show more content…
Although, there’s a few features that may be evident. This diet was “originally considered unhealthy and demonized by mainstream health authorities, mostly due to high saturated fat content”, but new studies have shown that “saturated fat is harmless” (Gunnars). Another disadvantage is that many vegetarians/vegans find it hard to participate because the majority of this diet consists of meat. Although, there are many other sources of protein throughout this diet that vegetarians/vegans could eat: such as eggs, cheese, soy, nuts, and seeds (Fields). Because there’s so much meat intake, this diet it also linked to “osteoporosis, heart disease, and colon cancer” (Healthy Weight Forum). According to the American Heart Association, “it’s not effective for long-term weight loss”, this organization doesn’t reccomend it (Fields).
