Pros And Cons Of The Affordable Care Act

The Affordable Care Act along with the Patient Protection are laws that was passed to insure that American citizens can afford an obtainable health care for them and or their families. March 23, 2010 was the day and year that President Barack Obama first initiated the two laws. So focusing more on the Affordable Care Act, the law is supposed to ensure that American citizens are able to have some form for of health coverage. By doing this Obama was intended to provide healthcare to broader variety of citizens. The Affordable Care Act, also known as ‘Obamacare’, is a series of benefit coverage and financial incentives and disincentives which was provided to attract a diversity of people. Although Obamacare do has a good initiative, laws like that almost always come the positive and negative consequences. One such regulation is that Obamacare makes it where young adults can stay on its provider’s healthcare plan until they turn 26 years old. Allowing this showed a decrease in young adults without any form of healthcare or insurance from 48 percent to 21 percent by 2012. Numerical wise, there is about 3.4 million young Americans that have health coverage. Another regulation is that insurance companies cannot ban one from one’s pre-existing condition or conditions. Prior to the Affordable Care Act, insurance companies failed to give life-saving coverage to Americans due to pre-existing conditions. Therefore, insurance companies operated sort of like death panels one can say. With all that being said, one also has to consider the negative aspects of the healthcare
