Pros And Cons Of Texting And Driving

This article focuses on a topic that has killed many people since mobile cell phones were invented. In just a year, nearly 1,000 people have died in car crashes that are believed to have been caused by cell phone usage while driving. When people text and drive, it is considered equivalent to driving while drunk. I was drawn to this article because it is a very important topic to me. When people decide to pull out their cell phone while going 60 miles per hour on the highway, they are not only risking their own lives, they are also risking the lives of other human beings.
Topic
The topic of this article is based on the urge people get while driving to look at their phone or start texting/calling people when they know they could potentially harm themselves or someone else. The researchers wanted to know who was most likely to reach for their phones when it buzzed, even though they were driving a vehicle. People know they should not look through their phone while driving because it is a very dangerous thing to do. For some reason though, some people still do it anyway. Researchers wanted to find out why people do this and what causes them to do it.

They wanted to know why people feel the need to text while they are driving. The researchers thought it may be because of someone's perceived attachment to their cell phones. If people feel the need to always have their phone on them at all times, they are more likely to check it every time it buzzes. On the other hand, if people do not feel the need to have their phone by their side at all time, they are less likely to grab it if someone texts/calls
