The subjects that will be involved in the research include the entire GCMS high school student body, parents of GCMS students in all three schools, and the GCMS teacher staff. The high school students and teacher staff will be sent a survey through their email accounts because that is the quickest and simplest way for large responses. They are being surveyed because they are the main people impacted from Common Core. Due to the fact that parents’ emails are not available, the parents answered their survey through a link that was posted on the GCMS Facebook page. The reason for also surveying the parents is to see if Common Core has impacted homelife.

When I recall teachers telling my class to expect a group project, groans and lists of complaints ensue from students. After the initial acknowledgement of the incoming group project, these students begin to worry about the identity of their inevitable partners who will impact which direction their grade will be headed for. Throughout my school experience, teachers have favorably chosen group projects as a method of assigning a great deal of work. Furthermore, these projects are a lesser load on teachers to grade and they hope other students will find a way to enlighten their fellow classmates. In the variety of groups I have taken a part of, many negatively impacted my grade for other group members’ actions.…

Some people make false claims by saying that standardized tests can only hurt students, rather than help them. If standardized tests are used correctly, they don’t only provide accurate, fast result; but they also help us to find out where the United States struggles and needs to improve on. Some people will argue that a teacher should simply be a person who transfers important information and facts to their students, while others say that a teacher should promote creativity and happiness in their classroom. Studies have shown that students believe that their teachers need to relax, destress, and have a sense of humor in order to maintain a productive classroom. They say that having a boring teacher who teaches boring lessons, makes them feel uncomfortable in school. So, by creating an atmosphere of positivity and freedom to make mistakes, students become more likely to succeed in their studies. However, the concept of a teacher not only acting in an authoritative position, but a friendly one as well, can be controversial in some…

However, products that are associated with the student’s tier level may be one of the most beneficial ways to help teach the standards. This is an effective way to help students with varying abilities to be able to meet the objectives associated with the NGSS standards. They can do this by differentiating the product that the students create to show what they have learned. If you have a child who does not like to write, having them write an essay to describe what they learned will usually result in a product that is insufficient and will provide poor assessment data, and a lack of learning, or a poor reflection of the students learning. Differentiated instruction allows for teachers to get students who are “creating higher quality products that richly reflected their learning and therefore yielded better assessment data”(Tobin, 2014).…
