Because he believed that a director’s personal ideas should be most noticeable in a number of their films. He believed that the ideas of the auteur theory, is that the director should be known has the author of their films. Both Bazin and Truffaut were both responsible for the implementation of the auteur theory (González, 2013). It was in their ways that the various of works were characterised of auteur directors that were established. In order to become an auteur director, ideas need to be presented in not just one, but in a number of films by the director. (González, 2013). Caughie explains, that an auteur director’s films are, “likely to be the expression of their individual personality” (Caughie, 2013, pg.9) The auteur directors have a different style and themes that can be recognised by analysing the type for forms of their films they produce. Alan Grant at first, was unwilling to spend some quality time with his kids, Lex and Tim. Right before they go to Jurassic Park, Tim asks his father questions. We see that he gets annoyed by this, and then he shuts the jeep door while he is still talking. Soon later, a storm hits the park, and ten a T-Rex escapes its enclosure. Inside the Jeep there was Gennaro, who was with Lex and Tim, and then suddenly abandons them by running towards the toilet and hiding inside. The T-Rex attacks the Jeep with the kids inside, Grant then controls the situation by distracting the T-Rex with a flashlight. Later, he shows further supremacy when he climbs up a tree to save Tim from inside the Jeep. These are examples that present Grant’s transformation into a powerful father figure. In a chapter by Morris (2007, pg.206), he points out a family formation, how Grant and his kids are resting on top of a tree bonding. They laugh at Tim’s jokes, and Grant said that he will protect them while they fall asleep.
