What undefined force brings light into a creature’s eyes in the blink of a second, but sheds years away until the final breath falls to the lips? What is life? What is the force that drives creatures, beasts, and individuals to press forward for the continuation of an unexplained existence? If the mystery of life is unexplained, then how can one press the issue of death? Death in itself is commonly explained as the window to another life. Can one be pulled from the brink of death, from the white light and back into the reality of the natural world? In order to truly understand the topic of this paper, question the motives. Why are we here on this planet? What purpose was, is life? Origin and destruction? Life and death …show more content…
You may ask, what is stem cell research? Stem cell research isn’t a recent scientific endeavor, but continuations of experiments that have lasted for the last 60 years. Scientists have been observing the potential of stem cells in the presence of the human body and the capable abilities the cell could provide. Stem cells are natural cells that encourage rapid growth and are often found throughout the body. Stem cell research continues to grow and is gaining rapid popularity. As with any scientific endeavor, there are positives and negatives. I confidentially support awareness and research for stem cell research for three principle reasons: the nature of the cells, the successful and potential treatments, and to further investigate what possibilities stem cell research could hold for the …show more content…
Stem cell research can be difficult, costly, ineffective, and questionable in the realm of human morals. Perhaps the hardest component to overcome is the lack of an abundant stem cell source. Scientists encounter numerous obstacles isolating and growing specific stem cells. The process itself is very complex and tightly controlled. To complicate the process further, the cells must be a close match and delivered to the right location in the body. The cells have to be very similar to the host cells to prevent immunodeficiency within the host. Once the cells closely match the host cells, stem cells must be transferred to the right part of the body. This is a difficult process and still frustrates today. Although there are difficulties, these issues do not match the greatest reason against stem cell research in America. Stem cell research has been held back by conservatives because the process often includes studying and killing a 4-5 day old human embryo. Stem cells are removed from the embryo and the embryo dies. Human embryos require proteins and cells that induce rapid growth, an embryo without stem cells ultimately
