Michael Dorris passionately expressed his thoughts on the misrepresentation of Native Americans through his article, ‘Why I’m Not Thankful for Thanksgiving’. Not only are the terms and assumptions about Native Americans offensive, but most of them are entirely wrong. Dorris gave a broad idea as to why he isn’t thankful for Thanksgiving, saying it is one of the holiday’s that the most Indian stereotypes develop from. He goes on to say, “Considering virtually none of the standard fare surrounding either Halloween or Thanksgiving contains an ounce of authenticity, historical accuracy, or cross cultural perception, why is it so apparently ingrained?” (Dorris).…

Hello, I feel like we should stop celebrating Columbus Day as a national holiday, as he is not a historical hero. My reasons for this is that he destroyed a civilization, enslaved and terrorized Indians, and was generally ruthless to others. When Columbus got to the New World, he destroyed a society present there. He and his crew brought new diseases, such as smallpox, measles, and influenza to the New World. The Indians, who had no medical knowledge, couldn’t fight the viruses, killing off a majority of them.…

Many of our players are from Florida so buying a ticket to fly home and fly back can really add up over the course of the year, and with a constant money flow this would take the load of their families. This is really bad because we don’t get to go home as often as the regular student because of games and etc, so whatever chance you have of going home is more appreciated than one would think even if its only for 5 days. I’m fortunate to only live 3 hours away so going home isn’t as hard on me as the other players but I feel the pain that they go…
