Virginia is a state that requires standardized testing in public schools for children between grades 3-12. The results from the Standards on Learning (SOL) testing showed that 80% of students in grades 3-12 passed the state assigned reading and math tests (Balingit.) The increase in test scores proves that schools statewide are adequately preparing the students with the required material under the common core guidelines implemented by the government. With Virginia increasing the test scores statewide, that means that schools with high grades—based off of the test scores received—will receive more funding for the approaching school year. With supplementary funding readily available, schools are able to invest the money into purchasing new materials and technologies to further advance the classrooms. Additional funding is exceptional motivation for schools who receive poor ratings because the funding aids as an incentive to create innovative and educational methods of teaching. With innovative and creative methods being implemented children are exercising their creative minds and discovering new methods of retaining the information. Common Core is praised extremely in the educational
