Pros And Cons Of Snowboarding Essay

So I decided I am going to change my topic to “Should the last three “strictly ski” resorts continue to be allowed to ban snowboarding”. So on that note, I am going to take the opposition to the claim that they should be allowed to ban snowboarding.

Today, snowboarding can be enjoyed around the country, with a multiple of resorts nationwide which allow free rein for skiers and snowboarders alike. Although, unfortunately, there remain three resorts in this country who continue to discriminate against snowboarders to this today. These three resorts include Deer Valley and Alta in Utah, and Mad River Glen in Vermont. This is absurd and noninclusive to the millions of people in the United States who love snowboarding. In today’s society, with so many people working to make our country less exclusive, why should these resorts be allowed to prohibit snowboarders on their slopes?

Snowboarding is a rather new sport, with the first snowboards initially introduced to the world in 1965 by Sherman Poppen. Though snowboarding wasn't introduced as an Olympic sport until 1998. It wasn't until 2007 when popular snowboarding company Burton promoted a $5,000 prize for the best-produced video of boarders “poaching” the restricted resorts at the time(Thought.Co). Poaching is defined in snowboarding as the act of snowboarding at a resort where snowboards were explicitly prohibited. Surprisingly, Taos Ski Valley decided to change their rules and by the spring of 2008, they began allowing snowboarders to explore their slopes.
