From what I know, neither of my friends or people around me have been sexually harassed. Well, maybe they are afraid to share with me. Coming from a different culture which I would say is a total opposite from the culture here in the States, we were never given any information about sexual harassement. We were told what to do if were harassed, but we did not know what is it to be harassed. We were never expose to these topics, that’s how such a taboo is it to talk about this is my country. Don’t you think it is essential for people especially girls to know what is sexual harrasement? I mean, what is the point of telling us what to do when we get harassed when we don’t know that we are getting harassed?

Here is the reason why. In our religious based country, arranged marriage is such a thing. So parents prefer deciding their childrens life partner instead of the children deciding it themselves. So, because it is not the childrens first choice to marry that person, marital rape occurs. This is mainly because for the men in our country, it is not common for them to sleep in a room with another woman. It is such a taboo. These explains their increased lust level when they are in a room with a girl for the first time which results in marital rape. In my opinion, these issue are more common that it seems. I believe that women choose not to report this because it is their husband and they do not want to end up affecting their relationship in the future. Doesn’t mean that if an issue is common it is acceptable. Both men and women have to set boundaries and know their limit even if it is a married couple.
In my opinion, as I suggested, to reduce sexual assaults generally is just to be surrounded by people all the time. It is safer that way. It might not be easy, but being a girl is never going to be easy. On the other hand, I would advice that a comprehensive talk on sexual assaults it given to all young girls. This is so that they are more aware because young girls are usually taken advantage of easily because they are so
