In this interview, Sendrow states that Will made “grotesque remarks about sexual assault on college campuses.” Sendrow continues with the claim Will dismissed all sexual assault claims through the utilization of her case, while diminishing what rape looks like on college campuses. Sendrow continues that sexual assault is especially triggering, and this condition is not a privilege. She states a multitude of individuals are afraid to report their sexual assaults because of retaliation. Sendrow went to Philadelphia magazine to highlight details of her case since she did not want to be re-victimized, shifting focus to how Swathmore College could improve its policies on reporting and investigating sexual assault claims. Robbins opens her own claims with an entire statement of pathos: “I’d no more want to have a conversation with George Will about sexual assault on college campuses than I wish to discuss racism with Donald Sterling (Robbins 2).” Robbins claims colleges prefer to engage in deliberately concealing sexual assault cases, but the students will not allow this. Robbins explains further that Will suggests women are to blame, and offers a PSA detailing “Good guys respect women(Robbins 3).” In the PSA, a man begins with “Hey bros, chick here passed out on the couch, guess what I’m going to do to her.” The man proceeds to obtain a pillow, which he places under her head. He then places a blanket on her and moves a side table with a cup of water near her. The PSA ends with “Real men treat women with respect.” In response to Will’s claim colleges are turning sexual assault victims into a coveted status, she offers this chronicle from Dr. Jen Gunter: “When they try to report it, they’ll be questioned about their conduct, whether there’s any drinking involved, what they were wearing, whether they’ve had sex with the man before… (Robbins 4)” Robbins claims focusing on statistics is not a way to void the necessary responsibility each university owes this serious issue.
