Did you know each year about 105 firefighters die while on duty? Or 69% of rural emergency places do not have the proper capacity for any kind of dramatic disaster. (History) The reason why rural communities do not get the attention many other larger communities get is due to the lack of need for major situations. Even though rural communities are not as needy as other larger ones the resources are still limited. Small communities are hurting in many ways. They don’t have nearly the people needed and this makes scene safety very difficult, the money isn’t granted to rural communities like large communities, and training must be more in depth and include protocols. 817 World Trade Center workers died. 400,000 were being monitored and 20,000 were being treated for various issues. Rescue and fire departments were exposed first and for the longest. Almost 70% of personnel have lung problems. Nearly a decade later personnel are still being closely monitored from this horrific tragedy. Treatment is the most important thing of all.
