Pros And Cons Of Releasing 911 Calls

Decent Essays
Finally, on a macro level approach, there should be a stricter policy about releasing 911 calls that are available to the public. During these calls, some people may have just witnessed something terrible and are distraught, then the recording is released to the public and it may re-traumatize a person; or, potentially the listeners that have access to the audio, they may even become traumatized. Within society, I feel there needs to be more acceptances to people who have been traumatized or experiencing post-traumatic stress disorder. I believe there should be more funding towards mental health and facilities to improve the wellness of those who need additional assistance.

For example, changing the requirements for the amount a space a child is suppose to have. Allowing more children to share rooms, will keep fewer children in emergency shelters. This solution would also allow foster parents to take siblings, instead of separating them because of the lack of space. Another, solution would be increasing the stipend given to the foster parents. This would encourage foster parents because children are not cheap to take care of.…

Releasing patient information is not only unethical, but also against the law. I could mention meeting Jack Ryan, but there is no need to elaborate. I would state that I am not allowed to discuss patients or any patient information. The significant other should understand and respect the decision to not discuss. Violating HIPAA results in steep consequences.…

Create Change Esther Dyson once said, “Change Means That What Was Before Wasn’t Perfect People Want Things To Be Better”. Even if one person creates changes in his or her society at a global, national, or community level in a positive way, will make this world a better place. Each individual can create changes in his or her society, unless he/she feels that it is important to society, that an action must be needed and the action that they going to propose in order for changes to happen. The changes that I want it to happen are; to have free schooling for students from kindergarten to twelve grade all over the world, along with women’s right to an education, offer free health care and helping homeless…

Question One Emergency management has changed significantly after 9/11. Major changes to disaster relief had occurred during the 1950s and 60s by including intentional man-made disasters in emergency management in planning. Although there are several instances of terroristic behavior and bombings, these disasters never occurred at the magnitude of the 9/11 attacks. This led to administrators becoming more engaged with the planning process and being more proactive in civil defense systems. Furthermore, following the 9/11 attacks, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) was established in attempt to prevent future terrorist attacks and to adequately plan for an emergency situation.…

The responsibility of providing sufficient funds can no longer be thrown upon the federal government as well as the responsibility to provide aid to say hypothetically the Carolinas cannot be thrown upon the people not affected by the disaster, it is simply not just. FEMA and USAID can no longer be the safety net for states to fall back on in the case of a small or big disastrous occurrence. Focusing on prevention and education is a strong argument, but establishing a concrete movement of change that will take stress off the already laboured funds behind the scenes will be more impactful as a whole (Mayer). Enforcing education and improving the disaster prone areas preparation period would be beneficial, but the Five Principles of Reform brings to the table the intense change this…

Rape victims are still silenced by the system, they are degraded, humiliated and not taken seriously. Many men and women are afraid to report rape because they are afraid of being disregarded. If changed, the crime of rape might be lessened, because it is my belief that rapists trust that the government’s patriarchal system is on their side, protecting them. Even if all rape cases were taken seriously and actions were taken against rapists, the crime would still occur, as all crimes do, but it might be a safer place for victims, if they knew they had the government fully on their…

I would propose changes in the Fourth Amendment. The changes will be to protect from unreasonable searches and seizures on the inside and outside of the border. The reason is that there were thousands of cases where Homeland Security Agents would seize and search mobile devices right outside the border. Because the Fourth Amendment only protects people inside the border, the agents were free to search, copy, and record any information from the devices without explanation. If the government allows this to continue it will lose trust in the public.…

Sex crimes should be properly reported, investigated, accounted for, and properly handled in all police departments. A prevalent issues within a number of police departments all over the nation is the undercounting of reported rapes. Several departments have been known to substantially undercount rapes that were reported by victims creating “paper” reductions in crime. Some law enforcement need to trust victims more, make sure they are safe after reporting their incident, and provide all the resources that are available to assist victims during their times of distress. Perhaps training on sex crimes and how they should be properly handled should be implemented and required for all officers and all police departments to…

Make a plan for on what a person would do if they saw a gay hate crime happening. If someone else hasn't already done it, a person will need to call 911. If people don't see the severity of gay hate crimes, google gay hate crime victims and look at the damage; this is another part of educating the people.…
