Pros And Cons Of Recycling Laws For Gatesburge

Improved Essays
Recycling is a good idea. Forcing citizens to be charged of not recycling right and having to pay extra for the garbage bins is more like stealing our money. No I don't think we recycle enough but, making it a law and forcing us to do it is not how you go along with things. Think about the citizens who are low on income, the ones who struggle to feed their kids. How would they be able to pay for those unnecessary bins? No Recycling Laws For Gatesburge has a very good point in my opinnion. We recycle, just not enough for GatesburgeGoGreen Initiative. We recycle more than just batteries, steel cans, and newspapers. We also recycle grass clippings, tree branches, leaves, and other metals. There is no laws telling us we have to recycle

“Recycling all of your home’s waste newsprint, cardboard, glass, and metal can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 850 pounds a year” (CU Facts). letting these materials become recycled instead of being thrown in landfills let the rest of the trash decay at the very slow rate it already goes without having to go around the not needed materials. Having these bins could help the already sorta polluted is being clouded by the sand processing machines across the river from pecan plantation. Eliminating as much environmental impact as possible needs to become Pecan and Granburys worry since we 've already put in multiple mining plants, a dam, and even a nuclear power plant. although it may be a little expensive to buy more recycling bins but in the long run the community would save money and the environment keeping less trash out for the garbage man to pick up and more plastics, bottles, and cans filling the bins can help save cost on how many garbage trucks need to come through and the air would become a little more pure.…

The GatesburgGoGreen Initiative will reduce the amount of waste added to the county landfill by 90% over five years, while improving city budget by eliminating the need for a new landfill. In 10 years, the county landfill will be closed if Gatesburg doesn't take action. The idea is great but it brings everything to a ridiculous level. If the law was passed it could turn the average joe into a criminal because he accidently put a piece of paper in the compost. well now joe has a record and never ment to actually do that and it was just an accident. The final reason I think this idea will not work and is just down right creepy is the trash police, say you have a really heavy bin do you want people to know how much trash you produce a week or what you specifically produce for trash I thought not.…

The GreenburgGoGreen Initiative is not such a bad idea. Think about it, millions of pounds of trash is dumped and picked up everyday from peoples houses. Yes, people recycle but that only reduces trash waste to a certain amount. If there was a way to reduce trash waste more, then why not try it? Of course it'll cost money, change always does, but think about the homeless people in other countries, such as India, who live around trash everyday.…

This would promote good habits and would enable the student body to engage with one another getting more people involved while also helping raise awareness of the importance of recycling. Studies have shown that bad habits are hard to break, it also show’s that if people are educated and know what they are doing they are more likely to do it correctly. For example, if we are able to teach proper recycling by showing and educating people about what goes where they would most likely comply and do it right in the future. In return, this would increase the waste diversion rate immediately at no extra cost and be highly…

In Wyoming, recycling is limited and recycle bins are sparse. If you do want to recycle, you must go out of your way and it is super annoying. If there was a bag tax on plastic bags, it would encourage people to recycle bags and other plastics, instead of throwing them away. People could reuse trash bags or other shopping bags for groceries instead of getting new bags every time they go to the store. The amount of plastic sacks used would go down, and people would recycle more, whether they knew it our not, by using reusable bags.…

This is a win-win situation in Aspen, Colorado. They tax the plastic bags which hurt the environment, then with the tax money, buy reusable bags and educate citizens on the dangers of waste. The final reason I believe a tax is the best option to reduce plastic bags is the example in source E where other towns followed suit in banning or taxing plastic bags after the success of Aspen. By pioneering this environmentally friendly tax they inspired other towns to follow in their footsteps. If my community imposed a tax, there is a good chance towns around us would follow our model and and the plastic bag waste would decrease…
