An individual or entity is considered “criminal” after participating in activities that demonstrate social harm, and the law can punish it (The Legal Dictionary). When discussing an alleged crime, the American public has to question whether this action is legally punishable or whether the action seems to be criminal and should be punished according to an individual’s morals. The problem presents itself on a national level in the relationship of American President Donald Trump with Russian President Vladimir Putin as well as on a local level in how the municipal government of Flint, Michigan handled the water crisis that affected its residents. Putin has big plans for Russia…I respect Putin and the Russians but cannot believe our leader allows them to get away with so much...Hats off to the Russians...Obama's plan to have Russia stand up to Iran was a horrible failure that turned America into a laughingstock. President Trump continued to censure former President Obama by discussing how President Putin views President Obama via comments such as President Putin not having any respect for President Obama. It is not criminal in that President Trump has the freedoms of free speech and of expression to express his opinions, and the United States Constitutions guarantee these protections. However, President Trump is not an ordinary citizen of the United States; he is the president. The crisis rose to national news in July 2015, when discussing the reports of high concentrations of lead in the water systems in Flint. Despite the fact that the water issue has not been resolved as of yet, the investigation conducted so far has criminally charged members of the state government for the quality of the water. The municipal government of Flint has an obligation to ensure that the water that its citizens are drinking pure water without any traces of lead. This matter is not only due to being one of the municipality duties but also because the residents pay a water bill to ensure that their water supply is of the proper quality for consumption and use. In this instance, the local government of Flint, MI is criminal in the fact that the governmental officials were not doing the jobs that they were elected to perform.
