The Tripartite Theory of Morality, based on Richard Shweder, consist three moral orders, which goes by rational to external to objective personality. The moral order consist autonomy, community, and divinity (Sweder,2003,p.138). The Ethic of Autonomy depends on harm, rights and justice. It is the usual agency; it protects individual’s choices and promotes everyone to pursuit personal preferences. This ethic is the perfect individualism. The Ethic of Community relies on duty, hierarchy, interdependence, and souls. It strives to protect the moral integrity of the society or community. The Ethic of Divinity depends on sacred order, natural order, sanctity, and tradition. It defends “the souls, the spirit, the spiritual aspects of the human agent and “nature” from degradation” (Shweder,2003,p.138). Indeed, this theory was expanded by Jonathan Haidt, Draig Joseph and Jesse Graham, which is known as the Moral Foundations Theory. This theory is fairly an advanced theory originated from the Tripartite Theory. It develops Sweder’s three ethics into six succinct listing of moral order.
