For example, inmates who are incarcerated are living in prison and cells that is overcrowded with minimal space therefore it is creating violent acts due to tension, aggression, and stiffness among inmates. A theorist name Beccaria states there are many people have the mindset of committing crimes and additional crimes to avoid the punishment for a single one. (Bernard, Snipes, Gerould. 2010.p.17). There are many factors that United States is currently facing within our prison system. The unfortunate issue is that prison are not always the solution and every offender is different and has different needs. Unfortunately, due to budget cuts many resources have been cut and as well as correction officers. If we focus on rehabilitating offenders instead of punishing them then recidivism will decrease. More importantly police officers statics should be enhanced in the community, there should be more police officers patrolling the streets on foot as well as interacting with the community. The voice of the public should be very important to the police therefore police officers should be addressing and responding to the community needs in an urgent manner. Police officers can hold many community events to find solutions on how to deter crime. The police officers needs to have a good relationship with the public in order for the community to feel safe and willing to talk to the police. Furthermore, neighborhood watch is an important aspect of community oriented policing because it is a method to crime prevention. In the community residents can look out for each other if they see any suspicious activity in their neighborhood and able to talk to the police about it. There are many citizens who have witnessed a crime refuse to talk to the police because they fear for their life therefore, the police needs to reassure residents they are safe.
