The current political climate is a perfect example. Two different groups of people with great ideas connot come together and have a fair and honest debate. There is now mudslinging, and backbiting, and even out and out lies. Pluralism allows this to happen. This is where education is needed. With an education you will “be able to think for yourself.” “The more you learn, the more you can learn.” You have a “context for all knowledge.” “General knoledge will plant the seeds of wisdom.”(Harris,1991) As you become educated you will deepen your knowledge pool. This will allow you to ask more complex questions. This in turn will lead to true intelligence. People with true intelligence live in a Postmodern World. We “question, critique, or reject grand theories and myths.” We “reject the idealized view of “Truth.”” We look for “multiple truths.” We have a “commitment to plurality of perspectives, methods, values and ways of knowing.”(Root, 2011) When you truly develop intelligence you will understand there is not only one way to live, but many, and just because two people or groups are not living the same way they can live harmoniously with give and take, and a peaceful, understanding of each
