Both of these systems of energy production have their advantages and disadvantages. The pros for renewable energy include: ensured availability, low carbon admissions, and a large scale job creation. The cons, however, consist of: high development costs, unreliability, and the inability to produce large quantities. On the other hand, the advantages for non-renewable energy are ease of accessibility, cost efficiency, and the ability to produce a large amount of energy. While the disadvantages comprise of: environmental impact, limited supply, and dangerous work environments. In the current age, we need energy that can be produced in great quantity, as cheap as we can. This is exactly what we find in fossil fuels. Due to the large amount of resources such as coal and petroleum, dispersed throughout the globe, they can be widely mined and harvested to decrease the cost per unit of energy. Because of the way our energy grids are set up, it is far less expensive to remain on non-renewable energy than to switch over to a primarily renewable system. This drives the price of energy down for the consumers, making it as available as possible.
